Dr Vandana Shiva: Sure. The same processes that lead to climate change at the end, are processes that destroy the soil to begin with. Take Syria. Syria like India, was imposed with this chemical fossil model of agriculture, which requires 10 times more water to produce the same amount of food, which destroys the soils capacity to hold water, which means when a drought comes your crops fail. And when you have overexploited your groundwater, there is nothing to support you. So in 2009, a million farmers of Syria where displaced, you can look at that and say we will build an ecological agriculture. We will rebuild the capacity of the soil to hold water. We will give back the power to the farmers to have their own seeds. Not turn Syria, or Iraq or any other place into a market for Monsanto seeds. That would of been the appropriate response to the Syrian crisis. That extended drought was linked to climate change. Instead what happened, the western powers waited. And said, let's arm the people and call them rebels. And say we are helping the rebels get rid of Assad as they did in Egypt, as they did in Iraq, as they did in Libya. Regime change through external intervention has become a favourite pastime of a failing superpowers. The result of which today is the wars in Syria. The creation of Isis. Isis was created through the arms supplied in Syria. There would be no Isis if they had said Syrian farmers, we will restrain our Monsantos, we will restrain our Cargills. We will allow you to do organic farming. There would of been no bombing in Syria. Syria would of had its agriculture back. Today half of Syria's population are refugees. And now they are linking the blasts to more wars, and they are creating such a hate atmosphere in Europe, that anyone who is a migrant, every refugee, instead of being seen as a refugee of actions of western powers, and therefore western powers have a responsibility to give them homes and shelters, is being treated as a potential terrorism. And you have hate reaching such a peak. I am saying a bigger problem than climate change, is the change in the relationship between humans, and the culture of hate and fear. It is going to create a politic that is so based on intolerance on each other that we will not have societies. Europe will destroy itself internally. Its a war within. So I would say the war against the Earth, leads to a war against people, and which ends up being a war within yourself. Bérangère Maïa Nathasha Parizeau: Thank you so much. Amazing! Thank you so much. I would love to come and do volunteer work for your organization. Dr Vandana Shiva: Yes come! We have a whole volunteer program at Earth University!
Bérangère Maïa Nathasha Parizeau: I am going to ask you one last question. What is the relationship between climate change and war?

BÉRANGÈRE MAÏA NATASHA PARIZEAU
My artwork, experimental films, and scholarly reflections emerge from a deep curiosity and fascination with the boundlessness of the human spirit, the limitlessness of the cosmic universe, the mythological, the spiritual, the exploration of my EARTH LIGHT body which emanates from infinity (this is the realm of the MYSTERY, the wildest imagination), as well as a real concern for our beautiful planet MOTHER EARTH. The premise of this heuristic body of work is that the current planetary crises are crises in human consciousness, crises of the humanity group soul/spirit. As an environmental advocate and consciousness activist, my work intends to intentionally participate in redesigning culture, the intentional participation in designing a post-growth ecological culture (this is the creative process of redesigning culture) for an ecologically sustainable and spiritually thriving planetary future. My intention is to shed light on the sacred multidimensional ways in which we potentiate the power of our consciousness. This body of work is a prayer to humanity to align our mind and hearts, to raise the power of our hearts, to develop methods and technologies to go inward towards the complexities and awareness of our individual connection to Source We are the Rainbow Warriors. If the world is indeed participatory, we manifest/dream this world into existence. Indeed, dear friends... a colourful future is ours to create! Archives
