SESSION 2: Discussion of Ongoing Research
Friday October 27, 2017
Lew Forum - Peter A. Allard School of Law
The University of British Columbia
1822 East Mall, Vancouver Canada
The APDR project was designed to address the challenge of coordinating local compliance with international trade and human rights standards in the Asia-Pacific region. Through an interdisciplinary program of research, analysis and policy intervention, the project has contributed to conceptual understanding and policy analysis supporting coordinated compliance with international standards on trade and human rights. Through the application of normative and institutional compliance paradigms of Selective Adaptation and Institutional Capacity, the APDR project has confronted the conceptual and organizational challenges to coordinating local compliance with international trade and human rights standards. The results of the research are already enabling interdisciplinary scholars and policymakers in Canada and internationally to understand better the requirements for coordinated compliance with international trade and human rights standards. This session will involve panel discussions on future research initiatives and directions for the core theoretical and empirical findings of the APDR Project.
