I love the benefits of meditation.  It makes me so much stronger. I won't go without it now. I want to meditate more.

I took these pictures when I travelled by myself to north and eastern  India for three months and a half in 2013. I visited Varanasi for a week.  It's one of the most intense cities I have ever been too.  I loved it! The Ghats is where they burn the dead bodies on the banks of the Ganga River.  My mother has been dead for three months now.  I have been meditating two or three hours a day for a few weeks now. My experience of mourning my dead mother has completely changed since I have begun meditating. I could feel a noticeable difference after day four of daily meditation. On day five, I remember having an intense feeling of longing. Longing is at the heart of the sacred process of mourning a loved one. And mourning a mother is a unique, intense and sacred process. Mourning is a sense of longing that will never again be fulfilled in that same earthly manner since the object of longing has dissolved into eternity...Now that I meditate daily, I am steady and strong in myself. I am no longer mourning in that intense manner for now. I am sure it will be back, and I welcome it! It is interesting to observe the rhythm of the wave of the mourning process...and how meditation is altering that process, making me present and stronger, transforming the intensity of the mourning process into a much lighter experience. Since yesterday, I have been hearing my mom's laughter in my mind...and it's making me laugh! Hearing my mom's laugh in my mind is just like hearing the eternal laugh of the Buddha...
